The World’s 50 Best Hotels 2026: Rosewood Hong Kong remains at the top

On September 15, the international hotel world gathered in Paris for one of the dates that has quickly found its place on the hospitality calendar. For its fourth edition, The 50 Hotels moved to the Salles du Carrousel, beneath the Louvre, to reveal the 2026 ranking in front of an audience drawn from hotels around the world.

The evening began, deliberately, not with the hotels but with those who vote for them. The Academy chairs representing the ranking’s 13 geographical regions were introduced on stage, each overseeing a panel that forms part of an Academy of more than 800 hoteliers, journalists, experienced travellers and hospitality specialists. Votes are cast confidentially and the process is independently adjudicated by Deloitte. It was a useful reminder, before the numbers began to appear, of what sits behind a list that is now watched closely each year by the industry.

From there, the evening allowed the ranking to speak for itself. The countdown from No.50 to No.1 unfolded almost continuously, with new entries, returning hotels and special awards appearing within the same movement.

Here is the full list.
